Hi, I’m David Blackman, the quixotic writer of this blog. Right now, we’re being followed by nearly dozens of people, but please allow me, if I may, to address myself to just one very special reader - @EleanorOnly. Lately, there have been a lot of rumors to the effect that you might actually stop by our ridiculous birthday party on Sunday night. That would be great. In my book, The Fiery Furnaces were the best thing that ever happened to indie rock. It goes even deeper than that - you weren’t just a musical group, you’re a part of us. We grew up with you.
Matt Broach has authorized me to offer you this 11x14 sharpie drawing to be at our party … an 11x14 sharpie drawing. Here it is, right here. A signed, one of a kind drawing. We found a venue. 269 Kent. Right next door to Glasslands. It’s great. Look how much fun these people are having at what appears to be an on stage interview / trunk show / Eleanor Friedberger concert! (note: this may not have occurred in real life)
Plans are starting to come together - cocktail menu, food menu, tea service, dessert potluck, storytelling competition, acoustic jazz guitar.
Now, Eleanor, all we need is you.

Honey. Please. Just drop it. I’m serious, I’m not doing this with you now. We’re in the bread aisle of the Food Lion, for God’s sake.
It goes without saying that partying at The Love Shack requires singing the B-52s, right?
Melissa and I visited The Love Shack in Bushwick last night. The space is a candy colored, mirrored, dollhouse boudoir wonderland. It also has 3 friendly cats - one of whom does the asshole cat thing of exposing his belly for petting and then bites your hand. Adorbs.
In the second photo, you can see @EleanorOnly hanging out on what Alexander Love described as the “Juliet Balcony” from where one can perform or pontificate.
Afterwards, we had delightful salty greasy burgers at Fritzl’s Lunchbox and a funky chai-and-tea infused hard cider called B Nektar The Dude’s Rug. I think we will need to feature this strange nectar of the gods at the implied birthday party.
LASTLY, inaugural car2go ride (Melissa, of course, drove).
Day 2 was less of a success. No favorite from @EleanorOnly. I think I need to step up my game. But we did see a likely birthday space at http://www.shootholystone.com/ There’s no stage, but there is an awesome photo drop that will be freshly painted for the party. It also features a hilariously out of tune piano.
I tried to illustrate what it might look like were @EleanorOnly to grace us with her presence. (This also illustrates what might happen if she does not).
Day 1 was a great success. Day 2 sees the founding of this blog.
